Trash Collection Updates – Bulk Items Pickup Resumes, Other Info

June 7, 2020 :: Latest News

We’ve been informed that American Disposal has resumed bulk items pickup effective this week. Pickups must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance by calling their office at (703) 368-0500 Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Bulk items not scheduled will not be collected. In addition, the company reminds that no more than three items per pick up, not to exceed two cubic yards, including furniture and/or household cleanout material is permitted. In addition, no construction or remodeling material is permitted.

American Disposal reminds that all liquids should be drained from containers and containers should be rinsed. All cardboard boxes must be broken down before being placed into or beside recycling containers. Materials to be recycled must not be placed in dark colored bags, since truck crews must be able to quickly identified what is to be recycled and what is trash.

American Disposal requests that all household trash be bagged and household trash bags be placed inside trash containers as much as possible. This helps eliminate the ongoing problem of animals and wind scattering trash throughout the neighborhood. Containers should be placed at least three feet apart and be at least ten feet away from obstacles such as cars, mailboxes, fire hydrants, and lamp posts.

Residents are limited to  ten bags and ten bundles per collection. Bundled yard debris should not exceed four feet  in length and three feet in diameter, and both combined should not exceed 50 pounds. Dirt, sod, concrete, rocks, and mulch are NOT acceptable items and should not be placed out for removal.
